No squinty eyes… 43 years ago happens to be 1969. In computing when you’re lazy and only want to store a single value representing time (instead of more complicated forms) you can use the seconds from the Unix Epoch which is Midnight on January 1st 1970. When you’re lazy and don’t put reasonable data in (or get wildly out of range data) you typically get a negative 1 for that, which evaluates to 1969 which is 43 years ago.
Go ahead and squint at the lazy developers, but not at your friends.
